About Jon Matson-Higgins, Minister & Celebrant, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire.

Sustainability

As a Minister and Celebrant, I am committed to working in a way that is mindful of the environment, while also helping to keep my services accessible and cost-effective.

Here are some of the ways I aim to do this:

  • My office is powered by solar panels and renewable energy wherever possible
  • I limit travel to what is necessary. Where appropriate, I will travel in the funeral car to reduce additional journeys
  • Family meetings are offered via Zoom, FaceTime, or WhatsApp video call, wherever possible. If an in-person meeting is needed, I will visit the family
  • All scripts and documents are produced electronically to minimise paper use, and I aim to work as paper-free as possible
  • I do not provide pens or giveaway items, as these are often not environmentally friendly
  • Where printing is required, recycled paper is always used
  • Items used during services, such as flags, scarves, and solar-powered candles, are reused wherever possible

Every small step makes a difference. By working together in thoughtful ways, we can help reduce our impact and care for the world around us.
